In Memoriam
Sam Oshin Russell
March 28, 1933 - February 2, 2012

We are sad to announce that Sam Oshin Russell passed away on February 2, 2012 after a long decline. Our deepest condolences go to his dear wife Catelijn, who has been taking care of him to the very end. The funeral service was held in Middelburg and officiated by Tenkei Roshi. Sam was a dedicated member of Zen River, and will always be remembered as a great-hearted high-spirited Australian with a quick and generous sense of humor.
We will miss you very much, Sam. Have a swift passage to the other shore.

Summer Month Long in the New Zendo

A full house and still plenty of space

Although still unfinished the zendo alreadly functions beautifully. Nine more tans are in the making and the woodwork is ready for painting.
The windows will soon be equiped with wooden blinds; the altar is provisional and will be replaced by a grander model in time.
Nevertheless the atmosphere is there.
